Santa Monica Extra Bedroom Program Returns

Posted November 18, 2020

The ‘Santa Monica Extra Bedroom’ program runs now through February 15, 2021, where locals can explore the city that they love

SANTA MONICA, Calif., (November 18, 2020) – Imagine waking up during your own relaxing hotel staycation in your own neighborhood or just steps from the ocean, the Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade. The Santa Monica Extra Bedroom program returns now through February 15, 2021, where locals can explore the city that they love.

While discovering Santa Monica from the perspective of a visitor in your own city, you and your guests should feel safe celebrating the holidays with the pleasant and still sunny weather. Outdoors is where most restaurants, shops and holiday services are offered throughout the holiday season. In an abundance of caution and care, Santa Monica recently launched a Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance seal program. To date, five of the hotels participating in the Extra Bedroom program have already earned the Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance seal and all LA County COVID-19 guidelines are strictly enforced including Le Méridien Delfina Santa Monica, Sea Blue Hotel, Shore Hotel, The Georgian Hotel and Viceroy Santa Monica. To see all businesses that have earned their seal visit santamonica.com/santa-monica-shines-assurance-program.

The Extra Bedroom program offer also extends to family and friends visiting during the holidays when space and social distancing can be a challenge. Perfect for gift-giving, Santa Monica residents can show valid proof of ID to receive the special Santa Monica hotel deals at more than 20 participating hotels listed at santamonica.com/extrabedroom. To receive the discounted rates – some up to $300 – mention the program while making the reservation over the phone. Rates are subject to availability and blackout dates may apply. Mention the program at any of the three Santa Monica Visitor Information Centers to receive 30% off most merchandise:

  • Main Visitor Information Center, 2427 Main Street
  • Visitor Information Kiosk, 1400 Ocean Avenue
  • Pier Shop and Visitor Center, 200 Santa Monica Pier

“The Extra Bedroom program is one of our most popular promotions with locals each year as it allows us to take a break, experience our beautiful city and world class hotel collection with deals and perks just for residents,” said Misti Kerns, President/CEO of Santa Monica Travel & Tourism. “We encourage all Santa Monicans to step into a safe environment while experiencing a hotel overnight or for a couple of days, what’s more important is that you get the relaxation and care that many of us need.”

To help you buy local and explore your beachside city, resources are available on how to travel responsibly, hotel safety measures, a personalized vacation planning tool, discounts at Santa Monica businesses, KCRW playlist and more at santamonica.com/shines.
