Santa Monica Restaurant Week Returns with New Flavors in 2018

Posted December 19, 2017

SANTA MONICA, CA (December 18, 2017) – Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) is delighted to announce the return of Santa Monica Restaurant Week. This year’s culinary program will take place January 8-14, 2018 and continue to accentuate the city’s progressive dining scene. Santa Monica Restaurant Week will help local diners kick off 2018 on a healthy note by utilizing the generous health benefits of this year’s special ingredient – the pomegranate.

In conjunction with California Restaurant Month, and to celebrate Santa Monica’s status as a health-conscious culinary destination, more than 30 Santa Monica restaurants will offer specially-crafted dishes, all created to highlight the pomegranate – a ruby-red fruit that is a rich source of Vitamin C and antioxidants that are known to fight cancer, lower blood pressure and improve heart health. Containing 365 seeds, one for each day of year, the pomegranate was revered as a symbol of love for the ancient Greeks and continues this tradition for many international cultures today.

The pomegranate is just one of the many local produce items in season during the winter months and can be found at any of Santa Monica’s four weekly farmers markets.

Diners can harness these extensive health benefits while enjoying dishes such as Pomegranate Glazed Hangar Steak Skewers at The Curious Palate, The Bomb Chicken Pome at Bareburger Organic, Smoked Chicken and Pomegranate Salad at The Buffalo Club and Hokkaido Scallop at Sushi Roku. Additional participating restaurants include: BOA Steakhouse, Coast, Dhaba Cuisine of India, Kye’s, Longitude Bar, Malbec Argentinian Cuisine, Mélisse Restaurant, One Pico, Pinkberry Montana, Scoops Ice Cream & Treats, Tar & Roses, The Brixton, The Lobster, The Veranda Restaurant, Upper West, FIG Restaurant Santa Monica, Tiato, Lunetta, Osteria Bigoli, The Albright and Dolcenero Gelato.

“As a Santa Monica resident, I am constantly in awe of how lucky we are with the wealth of dining options found throughout the city’s eight neighborhoods that feature innovative chefs, cutting-edge culinary trends and fresh, healthy ingredients from our farmers markets,” said Misti Kerns, President/CEO of SMTT. “We look forward to the return of Santa Monica Restaurant Week and are delighted to have such a diverse selection of restaurants participating by offering special pomegranate-themed dishes.”

Throughout the week, diners will have the chance to win $500 by sharing Santa Monica Restaurant Week photos on social media using the hashtag #SMRestaurantWeek.
