Westside Ballet of Santa Monica Presents: Masters of Movement

Westside Ballet of Santa Monica presents two distinct Spring programs as part of their Masters of Movement series and the 50th Anniversary of the pre-professional biannual performances. The pre-professional Spring Showcase pays homage to Westside Ballet’s founders, Yvonne Mounsey and Rosemary Valaire, presenting signature ballets such as Mounsey’s “Classical Symphony” and Valaire’s staging of excerpts from “Sleeping Beauty,” highlighting their profound influence on the company’s training and repertoire. The two Spring Showcase showings (Friday, May 17 at 7pm and then again on Saturday, May 18 at 1pm) include excerpts from Balanchine’s “Concerto Barocco,” a new contemporary ballet piece, and a new jazz ensemble.Both programs promise an enchanting blend of classical elegance and contemporary flair, celebrating the rich history and enduring legacy of ballet.
