Warming Dance Event

Warming is a live site-specific dance performance at Tongva Park that celebrates the beauty of the site and by extension the earth, as well as how it might be affected by climate change. Warming explores how climate change will affect both the earth in general and Santa Monica specifically, using the various elements of Tongva park to amplify the predictions. The dance will be specifically created to utilize the site and will be inspired by the scientific data. The audience will follow the dancers throughout different sites at the park where there will be short dance sequences. For instance a sequence by the water elements in the park can focus on the artistry of the sculpture, the vital need for water and predicted water shortages and the resulting effects. There will be a discussion following the performance with information about best practices to support environmental stewardship.
