Donna Sternberg & Dancers brings a third year of Transit Dances to Santa Monica, presenting dance at sites close to 3 stops on the Metro Expo Line. Audiences will travel from the 26th St./Bergamot station to the 17th St. station and conclude at the 4th St. station. At each stop, tour guides will take audience members to a site where a dance will be performed by a diverse group of Southern California companies, and then audiences will hop back on the Metro to the next stop for the next performance. Audience members can also go to any individual performance if they choose not to do the entire tour. A map of the performance sites is on our website: dsdancers.com. The rich multicultural fabric of the Los Angeles area will be on display with dances by Nga Anahera Maori (New Zealand); Blue 13 (Bollywood); B. Dunn Movement and Donna Sternberg & Dancers (contemporary American).
Based on the successful Trolley Dances in San Diego founded by Jean Isaacs, Transit Dances bring the arts into the community, inviting people to use public transit to see Santa Monica in a fresh, new way through the lens of dance, exploring hidden nooks and crannies as well as more popular landmarks. It invites audiences to experience dances from the diverse cultural communities that make up the greater Los Angeles area.
