On Saturday, July 25th, from 10am – 12pm, families are invited to discover California Indian culture through interactive storytelling, games and dances with Jacque Nunez, an award-winning storytelling artist. This unique program takes attendees on a journey into the lifestyle of the California Indian, in particular the Acjachemen Nation, which flourished in Southern California hundreds of years before the Spanish influx. Through stories and songs, Jacque shares her people’s indigenous tools, instruments, games and clothing. Jacque takes pride in preserving her ancestors’ story and passing on her culture through the oral Native American tradition of storytelling. Jacque recently taped and performed an original story for PBS and created a new series of children’s books.
