The New West Symphony and Stewart Copeland, famed drummer of The Police, will team up to present the West Coast Premiere of Copeland’s Tyrant’s Crush in concert on May 12 at the Barnum Hall in Santa Monica. The Symphony’s season finale performances, conducted by music director Marcelo Lehninger, will also include Johann Strauss’ sparkling Overture to Die Fledermaus and Richard Strauss’ dramatic Suite from Der Rosenkavalier. Stewart Copeland, who has spent three decades in the forefront of contemporary music as a rock star, acclaimed film score writer, and composer, will be the featured guest soloist on a program that will highlight the Symphony’s percussion section.
A free pre-concert talk, Hear & Now Live, given by Veronika Krausas will take place at 7pm.
