“Spirit of the Dane” at Santa Monica Playhouse

Spirit of the Dane is a hilarious comedy for all and a Shakespeare aficionado’s dream. Hamlet is performed thousands of times each year around the world. The play is read by millions, and has been in continuous production for over 400 years! So what if all that mental attention brought Hamlet to life for the audience! A Hamlet untethered by a script. Santa Monica-based writer, director, actor, and musician Tony Cronin’s new play Spirit of the Dane is a hysterical look at the character Hamlet if he were around today and could talk directly to modern audiences about the burdens of worldwide fame, the traumas of his fictional life, and the thousands of lines Shakespeare wrote for other characters that Hamlet craves!
