Main Street Walk
Far more than a history lesson, Santa Monica Conservancy’s Main Street Walk shows us Main Street as a vibrant hub of the Ocean Park neighborhood, upon which its histories have been written. Your guide, Mark Gorman, street historian and author of the award-winning blog The Street Seen, will share stories that reflect years of walking with a curious gaze and that are informed by well-researched musings.
Check-in: A docent will greet you at the Shotgun House, 2520 Second Street in Ocean Park. Check-in on the day of the tour opens at 10:15 a.m., and the tour will start promptly at 10:30 a.m.
What to bring: Wear walking shoes, wear layers and a hat, sunscreen, and water.
Parking: Paid parking is available along Norman Place and Main Street. There is also two-hour neighborhood parking on some blocks and larger lots along Main Street. During the summer months, allow extra time for parking as we are located near the beach and there is a lot of competition. Better yet, take the bus or use a rideshare service.
