Lecture: Giant Sequoias and Climate Change

Sequoia Parks Conservancy, the official nonprofit partner to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, will host a free lecture on giant sequoias and climate change, October 20, 2019, in the state-of-the-art Moss Theater at New Roads School, 3131 Olympic Blvd. in Santa Monica from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event is open to the public.
During the event, guests will wear specialized goggles and be transported to the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park, “a place that will fill you with awe,” says the LA Times. Attendees will learn about the effect climate change is having on these magnificent trees and what park scientists are doing to manage ancient sequoias in a rapidly changing environment.
Recently named Best National Park by Sunset Magazine, Sequoia National Park is home to some of the largest trees in the world, including the General Sherman Tree, the largest tree by volume on Earth, standing 275 feet tall and over 36 feet in diameter.
