This Jean Renoir double feature at the Aero Theatre presents “The Rules of the Game” and “The River.”
“The Rules of the Game” is considered one of the greatest films ever made, Jean Renoir’s seminal upstairs-downstairs portrait is at once a lyrically light comedy of manners and a damning critique of French upper-crust society. “The River” is based on the novel by Rumer Godden and directed, written and produced by Jean Renoir, this is a moving portrait of an English girl coming of age in Bengal. The film was nominated for two BAFTA awards and was the first film to be shot on location in India using three-strip Technicolor.
