Independence Day Ferris Wheel Lighting at the Santa Monica Pier
This event has expired. Please visit the Events Calendar for current listings.
The Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel will be lit red, white, and blue on Friday, July 1 to Monday, July 4 in recognition of Independence Day.
Independence Day in the United States is celebrated annually on July the 4th and commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to the monarchy of Britain and were united, free, and independent states.
Independence Day, sometimes referred to simply as “The 4th of July”, is commonly celebrated in the United States with fireworks, parades, backyard barbecues, picnics at the beach, and more organized civic ceremonies.
At the Pier, Pacific Park observes the annual holiday with a brilliant red, white and blue light program on the Pacific Wheel that includes fun, energetic designs and a 90ft tall, animated American flag.
Enjoy watching the light program online at www.pacpark.com/live.
