Who is Marie Sia?
Marie Sia, MBA is a personal and professional development consultant, master fitness instructor, and an accomplished martial artist. Her passion for teaching fitness along with her extensive training in martial arts has allowed her to become a staple advocate for abused women. Marie had a revelation that existing “self- defense” mechanisms, mainly taught by men, consistently failed to acknowledge psychological and environmental perspectives specific to women. This prompted her to design innovative fight strategies that incorporate efficient techniques women can use to deter physical attacks and minimize risks. Her training workshops go beyond self-defense and include topics such as Thai Boxing, Filipino Martial Arts, Spinning, Strength Training, Pilates, & Yoga. Marie is fully committed to wellness as she also oversees the entire wellness and safety programs at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
What is RAINN?
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE, online.rainn.org y rainn.org/es) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
