Aero Theatre celebrates the centenary of Oscar-winning Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman with a seven-film retrospective in September.
The tribute features her best-loved performance, opposite Humphrey Bogart in the 1942 romantic drama “Casablanca”; the two films for which she won lead actress Academy Awards — the 1944 thriller “Gaslight” and the 1956 drama “Anastasia”; two of the dramas she made in Italy with her second husband, director Roberto Rossellini — 1950’s “Stromboli” and 1954’s “Journey to Italy”; and her first film with Alfred Hitchcock, 1945’s “Spellbound.”
The festival opens Sept. 4 with a screening of Hitchcock’s 1946 romantic thriller “Notorious,” also starring Cary Grant as her love interest, as well as the 1982 Carl Reiner-Steve Martin comedy collaboration “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid,” which features scenes from “Notorious.” Reiner will also be on hand opening night for the double bill.
