The Santa Monica History Museum will host the first lecture of 2017 in its free Discover the History lecture series on Wednesday, February 1st, 2017 at 6:30pm. This lecture will focus on the history of Ocean Park – one of Santa Monica’s oldest neighborhoods. The speaker will be Richard Orton, local historian and volunteer.
One of Santa Monica’s oldest neighborhoods, Ocean Park has a unique and interesting history. It’s now known for having the highest concentration of coffee shops in Santa Monica, but what was here before? Names like Abbot Kinney and Pacific Ocean Park come to mind, but did you know that an ostrich farm, Santa Fe Railroad, and a Carnegie library also helped shape this area?
Seating is limited and RSVPs are encouraged. To RSVP or for more information, please contact Kathryn Evans at (310) 395-2290 or kevans@santamonicahistory.org.
