Cultivating the Expressive Body with Jeremy Hahn
This event has expired. Please visit the Events Calendar for current listings.
This body based practice utilizes an investigative process that draws upon meditation, visualization, and movement improvisation. Class nurtures the expansion of our expressive capacities as we move our bodies encountering each other and sharing playfully with cooperation. This is deep work. We welcome all curious participants who are interested in exploring expressive movement as a mindful ritual and healing art process. In times such as these let us explore our potential through embodied practice to support an ongoing process of self-discovery. Each monthly offering is based on a different theme. Explorations traverse many practices including: movement improvisations inspired by imagery, visualizations, imaginative play emphasizing expressivity, mindfulness practices, meditation, breath work, ritual, moving as a solo / duet or as a group, somatic practices, drawing, building a communal altar, dynamically engaging with space, eyes closed explorations, dancing to live accompaniment or specially composed playlist, constructive rest, and exploring intentional movement as the vehicle for healing / self-discovery for the individual and community. Basic arc of the practice: welcome circle – introduction to the workshop – Tune in meditation – Somatic warm up, visualizations and centering practices – Improvisational movement explorations as an individual, with a partner or group – Gratitude circle – Closing reflections and group share.
