“Architectural Compositions:” A Photography Project by John Rock
March 5, 2026, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
The California Heritage Museum is pleased to present “Architectural Compositions” a photography exhibition by architect John Rock. The exhibition is scheduled to open on Sunday February 8th and continue through Sunday, April 12th.
The photographs assembled here were taken over a period of almost 20 years, using a series of digital cameras which kept improving over time, along with the skills of their owner. The pairings for each two-images both respect differences and draw attention to similarities. They are juxtapositions that, while occasionally simplistic, often produce a union that is more than the sum of their two parts. And when seen all together as a series, sharing content and formal structure, these photographs can lay claim to a new visual typology.
