Classical, neo-classical, contemporary. Westside Ballet of Santa Monica reaches beyond its traditional realm to explore new horizons on Saturday, May 7th, celebrating a springtide return to the Broad Stage with A Petite Soirée, a fundraising event featuring cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and acclaimed guest artists, including Maté Szentes and alumna Lyrica Woodruff in Balanchine’s signature Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux. An exciting, last-minute addition to the event’s guest performances, alumni Adrian Blake Mitchell and Joy Womack are also scheduled to dance. A celebrated danseur and a prima ballerina, respectively—and two of the few Americans chosen to dance in Russia’s major ballet theatres, these two California natives had to abruptly flee their jobs, and will return to perform at the Saturday event
Join us at 6 pm for the reception, followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m. Westside Ballet’s “New Horizons” presentation will delight with wonderfully varied works from the most classic choreographers and composers to an original contemporary work with a commissioned score.
