“10 Best New Year’s Eve events in Los Angeles!” LA Weekly. “11 Best New Year’s Eve events in Los Angeles!” Daily News.
Champagne and sparkling juice (single-serve bottles, of course) and delightful sweets and savories (all commercially packaged) accompany this rousing, family-friendly Rudie-DeCarlo in-person multi-media musical review with Playhouse artists and special guests from around the globe joining in the singing, dancing, humor and other delights culled from 6 decades of audience favorite Santa Monica Playhouse productions.
With finger-snapping 40s jazz, foot-stompin’ country rock, Jewish patter songs, romantic ballads, bouncy sing-a-longs, this show has it all! Add hats, tiaras, noisemakers, leis, streamers and special surprises and you have a not-to-be-missed New Year’s Eve celebration. “A company that knows what its audience expects from an evening of theatre!” hails L.A. TIMES.
Helmed by Playhouse mainstay director Arthur R Tompkins, the show features Celeste Akiki, Tiffany Haile, Joseph Perez, Berkeley Sanjay, Graham Silbert, Raeva Vasisht, with your hosts, Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie. Playhouse alumni Rebecca Ashton, Ashley Kowalski and Cynthia Zitter join via zoom.
The 10:00pm show features a midnight meet ’n’ greet and more champagne with the cast. The early-bird 7:00pm celebration offers everything that the later show does and is a great way to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the entire family, letting the kids have a safe and sane New Year’s Eve treat, and get home at a reasonable hour, or kick off an evening of after-theatre dining and celebrating.
Playhouse New Year’s Eve festivities are among the most popular in town, and shows sell out fast, so book early to avoid disappointment. Help the Playhouse usher in 2022 and its 61st anniversary of continuous theatrical and educational services to the community. “The Playhouse is truly a gem in this city and visiting it should be at the top of everyone’s to do list!” DAILY BRUIN.
Santa Monica Playhouse programs are supported in part by City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Arts Commission, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture and Playhouse PALS. Friday, December 31 – two performances only – 7:00pm and 10:00pm.
