Critically acclaimed author Katherine Nouri Hughes will give a presentation about her celebrated new book, “The Mapmaker’s Daughter,” which focuses on the life of Nurbanu in the Ottoman Empire during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent (a history included in the current Netflix series, “The Magnificent Century”) at the Milken Institute, located at 1250 Fourth Street, in Santa Monica at an event that is open to the public on November 9 from 6-7 p.m. Author and member of the boards of the American University in Cairo, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and WNET/13, the public television station. Hughes will discuss the book published by Delphinium Books (distributed by HarperCollinsPublishers)followed by a Q&A and book signing.
