A Classical Viennese Soirée
This event has expired. Please visit the Events Calendar for current listings.
A Classical Viennese Soirée focuses on works performed on different types of period instruments: violins, viola, cello, flute, and fortepiano by Haydn, Mozart, and composer-publisher Franz Hoffmeister, which undoubtedly will delight chamber music lovers.
Featured artists will include Cal State Long Beach professor, flautist, and prolific recording artist, John Barcellona. Two of our fine string players, Anne Rardin and Lindsey Strand-Polyak, return to join us for this concert. We also welcome Alexa Pilon, a young Canadian cellist, currently very active in early music preformances. Artistic director Preethi de Silva will perform on her fortepiano based on a Viennese instrument of the late eighteenth century to evoke an authentic ambience. Strings and piano trios, solo and duo sonatas provide sampling of the variety of music heard in the intimate setting of Viennese social circles.
