ROUTE 66 CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY

Santa Monica Celebrates 100 Years of Route 66

While we’ve long been celebrating, November 11 marks the official 100th anniversary of Route 66, the legendary highway that has connected communities, travelers and roadside culture across the country since 1926. As the western end of the historic route, Santa Monica is positioned to celebrate this milestone where the Mother Road meets the Pacific. Throughout the centennial year, Santa Monica has been highlighting its Route 66 landmarks, legacy businesses, cultural history and contemporary experiences. This fall, the milestone takes on added significance as the anniversary date approaches, giving visitors a timely opportunity to explore the city’s connection to the Mother Road.
