Tongva After Dark presents Buyepongo

On Wednesday, June 10th, from 7:30 – 9:30pm, Tongva After Dark presents the band Buyepongo. The East LA group (whose name is slang for “to cause a ruckus”), draws from the traditional roots music of South and Central America. Influenced by the sounds of Colombia, Mexico, Haiti, Belize, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, Buyepongo’s vibrant, tropical arrangements create a danceable beat that fuses merengue, punta and cumbia. Bring a picnic and a blanket or chair, sit under the stars and be swept away by the passionate rhythms of Buyepongo at Tongva’s Gathering Hill.
