“BOY VEY!” A Santa Monica Playhouse Jewish Heritage Series

BOY VEY is not “based on a true story.” It is a true story, the story of how a Jewish girl’s quest for love unveils the bizarre connections between her misbegotten dating life and inherited Holocaust trauma, a humorous, touching and powerful autobiographical solo show all about love, coming of age, and the Holocaust, written, performed and lived by Rachel Kaftan and directed by Dana Resnick. See it Saturdays at 7:30pm or Sundays 2:00pm matinee, September 11 through October 30.
RACHEL KAFTAN é uma artista de teatro que mora em Los Angeles. Ela cresceu na chuvosa Seattle, filha única de duas mães lésbicas e um pai gay, e se assumiu para todos como “heterossexual” quando tinha sete anos de idade. Os destaques teatrais anteriores incluem o papel de Tevye em uma versão de Fiddler on the Roof para uma escola de ensino médio só de meninas, Kissing Kate Barlow em Holes no Seattle Children's Theatre e Fetch, um açougueiro de cães raivoso, hipersexual e reptiliano, em uma produção de vanguarda de Spring Awakening.
DANA RESNICK dirige nacionalmente há mais de 15 anos e recebeu o Prêmio Stephen Bochco de Direção e o Prêmio John Jutkowitz de Realização Excepcional em Artes Cênicas. Mais recentemente, ela desenvolveu e dirigiu a produção de estreia mundial de Sisters in Law, de Jonathan Shapiro, na Phoenix Theatre Company.
