BOY VEY is not “based on a true story.” It is a true story, the story of how a Jewish girl’s quest for love unveils the bizarre connections between her misbegotten dating life and inherited Holocaust trauma, a humorous, touching and powerful autobiographical solo show all about love, coming of age, and the Holocaust, written, performed and lived by Rachel Kaftan and directed by Dana Resnick. See it Saturdays at 7:30pm or Sundays 2:00pm matinee, September 11 through October 30.
RACHEL KAFTAN es una artista teatral afincada en Los Ángeles. Creció en la lluviosa Seattle, hija única de dos mamás lesbianas y un papá gay, y se declaró “heterosexual” ante todo el mundo cuando tenía siete años. Entre sus papeles teatrales más destacados se incluyen el de Tevye en una versión para niñas de Fiddler on the Roof en la escuela secundaria, el de Kissing Kate Barlow en Holes en el Seattle Children's Theatre y el de Fetch, un carnicero rabioso, hipersexual y con aspecto de reptil, en una producción vanguardista de Spring Awakening.
DANA RESNICK lleva más de 15 años dirigiendo a nivel nacional y ha sido galardonada con el Premio Stephen Bochco a la Dirección y el Premio John Jutkowitz a los Logros Destacados en las Artes Escénicas. Recientemente, ha desarrollado y dirigido el estreno mundial de Sisters in Law, de Jonathan Shapiro, en la Phoenix Theatre Company. Entre sus producciones favoritas se incluyen: Bad Jews (Pure Theatre y Odyssey Theatre Ensemble), The Mill on the Floss (Carnegie Mellon) y The Island (mejor obra de teatro en Piccolo Spoleto 2009).
