Santa Monica Symphony Concert: Latin Rhythms

Join the Santa Monica Symphony for “Latin Rhythms”, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 7:30pm. Inspired by the rich, cosmopolitan sounds of Central and Latin America, conductor Guido Lamell will guide the orchestra and audience through an energetic and exciting evening of orchestral music. Internationally known guitarist, Mak Grgic, will share the stage for the sublime concerto for guitar and orchestra, Concierto de Aranjuezby Jose Pablo Rodrigo. Grgic, who was recently a Young Artist in Residence at The Da Camera Society of Los Angeles, is a co-founder of DC8, Da Camera’s contemporary music ensemble, which strives to expand the definition of what a modern music ensemble can be and was named an “inspiring addition to the contemporary music landscape in Los Angeles” by the LA Times. The evening’s program will also include American composer Leonard Berstein’s West Side Story: Symphonic Dances,Jose Pablo Mancayo’s Huapango, and George Gershwin’s exciting Cuban Overture.
