Happy Birthday Marion!

Step back into the shimmer of Old Hollywood and join us in celebrating the incomparable Marion Davies—silent-film star, legendary hostess, and the original queen of the Beach House.

The festivities from 1-3PM include live music with Janet Klein and her Parlor Boys, a chance to learn quick ‘n easy 1920s dance steps with James Zimmer & Cynthia Harper of the Historical Ballroom Dance Club, a Makers Group fashion show from Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, and a chat with Lara Gabrielle, author of the Marion Davies biography, Captain of Her Soul: The Life of Marion Davies, who will take guests back in time to the 1930s when Marion entertained nearly all of Hollywood at her spacious beachfront mansion. Santa Monica Conservancy docents will be on hand in the Marion Davies Guest House, inviting guests to imagine what life was like for Marion at her beachfront estate.

All are welcome to come in vintage dress or costume reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s. Happy Birthday Marion! is a free, all ages event. RSVPs requested.
