Santa Monica Museum of Art "Puppet Show"

The exhibition brings together 28 contemporary artists who explore the imagery of puppets in sculpture, film, video, time-based media, animation and 2-D work. 5/23: Opening reception and children's workshop. Special events throughout the summer include A Puppet Show with artist Charlie White, 'Objects at Rest, Objects in Motion' (a walk-through on the history of puppetry), Yasunari Kawabata's haunting story 'One Arm", "Dante's Inferno" film with hand-drawn puppets, plus various shows featuring extraordinary avant-garde puppetry. Among the most recognizable faces of the 60s 'British Invasion', at one time topping music charts on both sides of the Atlantic, the legendary performing duo will light up the stage with their familiar mix of folk, blues and rock 'n roll. Pier Summer Twilight Dance Series: Toots & the Maytals

American Cinematheque Screenings: Aero Theatre

Farmers Markets
Santa Monica's four weekly farmers markets are widely considered to be among the best on the west coast and feature field-fresh produce, hundreds of kinds of vegetables, brilliant cut flowers, breads, cheeses, delicious foods, live music and more. 3rd Street/Arizona: every Wed 9am-1.30pm and Sat 8.30am-1pm. Santa Monica Conservancy Saturday Walking Tours
