Ocean Front Walk
This broad paved footpath stretches south from the Pier to just below Bay Street and leads to a number of unique stops and diversions. In addition, three 11-foot-wide boardwalks extend into the sand, allowing visitors with disabilities closer access to the ocean; one is just north of the Pier, one is at lifeguard tower 20, and one is at lifeguard tower 26.

Set into the slope at the foot of the Pier on the West side of Ocean Front Walk sits a stone-walled sandbox for children that features a concrete Viking ship. Adding to the playful setting is a huge dragon’s head with smooth stone scales rising from the grass to confront the unsuspecting ship in its sea of sand. Press the brass knob in the bow of the ship and the dragon snorts bursts of sea mist—to the great delight of children and adults alike.
