Santa Monica Place
Santa Monica Place mall is closed for a complete renovation that will transform the 1980s-era shopping center into a three-level, open-air retail streetscape, scheduled to open in fall 2009. Macy’s remains open during construction, with parking available in City Parking Structure 8 at Second Street and Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica, and entrance to the department store from Colorado. City Parking Structure 7 on Fourth and Broadway will also remain open to the public during construction. The new Santa Monica Place will maximize its beach-side setting to bring together fresh ocean breezes, marquee retailers and sun-dappled walkways – topped by an indoor/outdoor rooftop dining deck – to create a custom-tailored, high-profile West Coast retail destination. The new Santa Monica Place will feature:
- Open-air walkways that connect to nearby Third Street Promenade
- A signature rooftop public dining deck
- A new central plaza
- Innovative architectural design and landscaping matched to the project’s setting two blocks from the ocean.
- A fresh mix of new retail and dining options.
- Family restrooms
- Public art displays
- Community Room
- Children’s Play Area
